Standfield Hall Cottage is a fantastic, detached, cosy two bedroom holiday cottage on an organic farm within beautiful scenery, perfect all year round. It's on the outskirts of the fair trade, historic market town of Pickering and on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. 
Thank-you so much for your generosity and hospitality, you have thought about everything. Had a wonderful holiday. Lovely apples, too.

With a large, safe, fenced-in, grassed garden area with fruit trees and flowers in front of the cottage, it's perfect for lively children to play. They love the animals, visiting the beach, and Flamingoland
Visitors love the relaxing peace, solitude and lack of traffic noise, the log fire burning when you arrive, the organic breakfast hamper, fruit and flowers, the friendly welcome, the beautiful, lovely countryside, the fresh air and the feeling of being home from home. Many (honestly, we're flattered) write that the cottage is the nicest they've stayed in and that a week isn't long enough to cover all there is to do.
You might see foxes and owls, and a small family of deer lives nearby.
What a fantastic Christmas, hosts Mike and Pam the best, turkey, veg, fruit, bread was fantastic, what can we say, the best holiday ever. Peace and quiet is just what we needed. Thank you so very much.

The holiday cottage is available from Saturday to Saturday, and for Monday to Friday weekday and long weekend breaks. Standfield Hall Cottage is no-smoking accommodation throughout. Sorry, but pets can not be accommodated.

Things to do
- Come with us and help feed the chickens, geese and cows
- Visit Scarborough and play on the beach (18 miles) (or try Whitby, Filey or Bridlington)
- Eat out at the Fox and Rabbit, Lockton (6 miles)
- Cycle in the gorgeous Dalby Forest (7 miles)
- Walk to coastal path to Robin Hoods Bay and end with fish and chips or ice creams from the van on the beach
- Walk with panoramic views over the remote peat and bracken covered Westerdale moor or walk around the Hole of Horcum
- Visit the Beck Isle Museum in Pickering (1 mile)
- Take the North Yorkshire Moors steam Railway and see where Heartbeat is filmed. You might even see the Sir Nigel Gresley in full steam. Check the events page for the wartime weekend, Christmas specials, and Thomas the Tank Engine events (1 mile)
- Take the kids to Flamingoland (3 miles)
- Visit historic York, the Minster, the racecourse, boat trips, shopping and entertainment (28 miles)
- Buy fresh trout from the trout farm opposite
Find us
We are situated on the outskirts of the west side of Pickering. If you have satnav, our postcode is YO18 8LX, we are just slightly further along the road than this suggests, and on the left hand side (south) of the road as you drive. Here's a link to us on Google maps.
To find us from west of Pickering, from Thirsk on the A1/A19
- Approach Pickering travelling East along the A170
- You will pass through Middleton which is just before Pickering
- As you come out of Middleton there is a garage on your right and a welcome sign on your left
- After the garage, take the second turning on the right (immediately after the pond) onto Westgate Carr Road. Follow Westgate Carr Road for approx 1/4 mile past the Industrial Estate and the Water Cress and Trout Farm and you'll find us on the left. Turn in and immediately right is the cottage. Park.
To find us from east, south and north of Pickering
- Approach Pickering along either the A170 or the A169 to the roundabout near the town centre
- Take the exit signposted A170 to Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley and Thirsk
- Follow the A170 through the town centre traffic lights, and continue for another 1/2 mile to the edge of Pickering until you see the first 40mph speed limit signs
- After about another 200 metres, look for a set of four bungalows on the left
- Just past the bungalows, turn left into Westgate Carr Road (immediately BEFORE the pond)
- Follow Westgate Carr Road for approx 1/4 mile past the Industrial Estate and the Water Cress and Trout Farm and you'll find us on the left. Turn in and immediately right is the cottage. Park.
If we don't immediately notice your arrival, our house is opposite the other side of the house.
